I made my first ever shamanic drum yesterday, guided by Pat Dunnicliffe of Dunnwood Drums www.dunnwooddrums.com. It was hard work but a wonderful experience, and I can't wait for my new drum to dry out so that I could start playing it!
I painted a few small picture of leaves of different trees on the inside of the wooden frame (pity you can't see them very well when the drum is completed!) and my boyfriend decorated his frame with two polar bears, a Tardis and the Rebel Alliance emblem from Star Wars!
It took a whole day and my thumb is still aching from the efforts to stretch the deer skin, but well worth it and I look forward to making another drum with Pat in not too distant future.

So, with great faith that this is going to be successful regular event, I have just arranged for us to have the Community room EVERY first Wednesday of the month from 7.30 - 9.30pm+ until July 2012.
I hope people will bring along drums, percussion, all sorts of instruments as well as themselves and their voices (we ALL have voices) so that we can finish the session having fun and celebrating life and each other - building a real community.

The first evening of our new Sound Healing Circle is planned for Wednesday 7th December 2011, at 7.30-9.30pm - the venue is still to be confirmed but is likely to be in Hadfield or Glossop.
The group will be open to all, no prior musical experience or skills will be required, and if you consider yourself tone-deaf, you are especially welcome to join!
The Circle will be led by Rhiannon (Gill) Becque, a highly experienced sound therapist and trainer, facilitator, counsellor and music teacher.
Some of the likely activities will include toning, chanting, drumming etc and generally having a bit of fun with sound - all will be suited to complete beginners. The suggested contribution towards venue hire/refreshments wil be £3.
If you would like to join us or find out more, please contact Rhiannon 01457 863830 or Masha on 07887 617558, or send us a message through the Contact page.
